Avoiding Scratches and Dents – and Minimizing the Damage When They Occur
We have some good news to share, and some not-so-good news.
First, the good news: There is an absolutely full-proof, guaranteed way to avoid scuffing, scratching and damaging your car wheels: Don’t ever take the car out of the garage.
The not-so-good news: We all know this isn’t practical.
It doesn’t take a custom wheel finish expert to tell you that scratches and dents are a reality of daily driving. Life happens. Accidents happen. And roads are inherently rough terrain; even the most experienced drivers can hit potholes, run up against curbs or be victimized by the negligence of other drivers. Add to that rain, snow, oil and grease deposits, road salt and more, and you get an environment that’s very unfriendly to our wheels.
If you have Wheel Craft custom PVD Chrome™ finishes on your luxury brand factory installed wheels, or even some other PVD chrome-coated wheels, and those wheels are damaged, what should your plan of action be?
Step one: Do your best to avoid potholes, loose gravel curbs and other potentially damaging things.
Step two: If scratches, dents or damage occurs (or in the case of PVD powder/chrome-coated wheels, pitting, peeling, flaking or otherwise failing), contact Wheel Craft, because we can fix it—and, we’ll repair it the way it should be done.
With our expertise and craftsmanship, Wheel Craft technicians can remove the PVD Chrome finish (or PVD chrome coated on wheels from aftermarket providers), polish/smooth out the imperfection caused by an abrasion or scratch, bring it back to a high luster, then reapply our finish and make it look as good as new.
Comparatively, repair techs that only handle powder-coated wheels just sand down and paint over the affected area. This method does not promote optimal adhesion and leaves the wheel vulnerable to cracking and chipping.
What to Do If Your Wheel Craft PVD Chrome Finish is Scratched or Dented
If you have Wheel Craft PVD Chrome finishes on your BMW, Lexus, Infiniti or other luxury brand factory installed wheels, and one or more of those wheels is scratched or dented, here’s all you need to do:
Simply complete the form on www.wheelcraft.com/curbrx-quote-request. Once you fill out the response form, a Wheel Craft representative will contact you to arrange the replacement. We will then coordinate shipping and replacement of the wheel(s) with a nearby authorized Wheel Craft dealer or certified installation technician. All you need to do at that point is visit the dealer or technician site for removal of the affected wheel(s) and installation of a freshly finished PVD Chrome-finished wheel (or wheels).
One other point: Our five-year warranty does not cover repairs to a scratch or dent. However, once we reapply our finish to the affected wheel (or wheels), that initiates a brand-new warranty on the wheel finish. It’s our way of standing behind our custom PVD Chrome wheel finishes and working to make you a customer for life.
What to Do If Your PVD Powder/Chrome-Coated Wheels are Damaged or Failing
Again, if you have other PVD chrome wheels that are peeling, pitting, flaking or otherwise failing, the professionals at Wheel Craft will help you get your wheels looking great with our industry leading PVD Chrome Finish. Simply visit www.wheelcraft.com and click on the CURBrx REPAIR link under the Warranty link. Once you fill out the response form, a Wheel Craft representative will contact you to arrange the replacement.
